Which is a better frequency 50Hz or 60Hz

Frequency is a number of ac cycle per second and it play a great role in electricity generation system as well as in in distribution System.So question is this that which frequency is better 50Hz or 60Hz.

To understand it we need to understand the importance of frequency in genration and distribution.Frequecy is parameter which declear the mismatch between generation and load.We can explain it by below curve between frequency and impedence.

The frequency of electricity is used 50Hz or 60Hz this is practice and a standard.In earlier cases of 19th centuary different types of frequencies are used such as 16Hz to 133Hz range for electricity.
In early of 20th centuary 40Hz and 42Hz became more popular.In USA the range of frequency used in from 25Hz to 140Hz.

So lets explain which is better frequency 50Hz or 60Hz.Both of the frequency have thier own importance in INDIA we use 50Hz beacause at low frequency can distribute upto long distance as compare to high frequency but 50Hz generation required more heavy equipments this is its drawback.
In case of 60Hz it can use only for small distance but it require less heavy equipment as compared to the 50Hz so answer is this both frequency have thier own importance.

In INDIA we still use 40Hz,42Hz in railway generation system and in aeroplanes we use 400Hz frequency the reason is simple in aeroplanes we cannot carry heavy equipment so this is the reason we use 400Hz in aeroplanes.If we use low frequency range light may get flicker.

So answer of the question is simple you can use both frequency but both 50Hz and 60Hz have their own disadvantages.
