PN Junction Diode

PN junction diode:-

A p-n junction is two terminal semiconductor device which allow the current to flow in only one direction. The p-n junction is formed when p-type and n-type of semiconductor and joined together. It is also termed as a switch because it is act as switch in forward biasing act as closed switch and in reverse biasing acts as open switch.

Symbol of PN junction diode is given as below

As per the symbol shown above Anode is positive which is made up of P-type of Semiconductor and Cathode is negative which is made up of P-type of Semiconductor. For more clarification please refer below image.

here we clearly see that Depletion region between the PN junction diode which contains immobile ions which resist the charges to flow through it.
